The conceptual framework of Functional Patterns was first established in 2006 by CEO and Founder Naudi Aguilar. The notion that people should train based on their biological characteristics was born out this theory, after rigorous testing it became clear how important a more integrative approach is for achieving goal-specific training goals; drawing from various fields like anthropology, kinesiology (movement science), biology — among others - Functional Patterns has created its own system which offers effective yet holistic tools with each exercise designed around one or more principle "bio-functions".

In 2013, the launch of Power of Posture saw tremendous growth for Functional Patterns. This online fitness system had been used to address imbalances and learn how better move in your day-to-day life with 10 week training course that can be done from home or anywhere else you please as an individual who wants some help achieving balance when it comes down their physical health; since then over 500 people across every continent have received certification on this great platform while thousands more are using this online training from the comfort of their own homes. The combined effect this education has had on fitness professionals and trainers is a shift towards exercises that incorporate more unilateral movements as well rotational ones.

What is Functional Patterns?
Functional Patterns is a training methodology not quite like any other.  Unlike any other point in human history, the greatest health crisis we face as a species is the imbalances that exist within our modern society and our misalignment with nature. This has had a substantial impact on our movement capabilities as we’ve shifted our daily practices from their roots in natural processes towards sociocultural processes. How do we find balance in today’s world with all the dys-biosis that surrounds us? It’s simple, our adaptability to the natural environment determines our health. The better balanced we are with nature, the longer and stronger we live. For humans, this means bringing us back to the beneficial aspects of our evolutionary blueprint that made us healthy to begin with.

What is the Blueprint?
There’s an evolutionary blueprint to all organisms, and Functional Patterns has been cracking the code in human movement for nearly 15 years. Resulting from tens of thousands of hours in testing, we have pioneered the FP methodology, syncing the physics of our natural environment to our health better than any other system out there. Our conclusion has been to train humans according to their biological movement characteristics: Standing, Walking, Running, and Throwing — The “FP Big 4”.

POSTURE
The Functional Patterns system implements techniques that are designed to help people overcome their dis-ease from a heavy amount of sitting, an inactive lifestyle or using improper posture while standing. Learning how we can reintegrate ourselves into our bodies on the inside by obtaining unconscious neutral postures is one step toward establishing higher quality movement in our lives and living pain free.

The foundations of Functional Patterns involves correcting your posture through various techniques like muscle integrated joint stacking, active spinal decompression and breathing exercises that will prime you for more complex dynamic movements without experiencing injury.
